Whether you are travelling alone with your spouse or are being accompanied by your kids on a safari, you will need to consider several factors in order to have an enjoyable experience. Below are some of the things you need to put into account before going on a safari.

5 vital considerations for familes planning a safari

Whether you are travelling alone with your spouse or are being accompanied by your kids on a safari, you will need to consider several factors in order to have an enjoyable experience. Below are some of the things you need to put into account before going on a safari.

1. The Weather

Most safaris are taken in the Jungles. You will need to be very wary of the weather of your destination. For example, if you are travelling to Canada, you will need to pack lots of warm clothes. Conversely, if you are going to Africa, you will need sunscreen due to the intense sun that may cause some skin burns.

2. Travel time

Those travelling to far off destinations will probably use the aircrafts to reach their destination. Travel experts advise people to put a 24-hour cushion time to get rid of the jet lag both before and after the trip. You do not want your kids to sleep in class, do you? Allow time for the jet lag to wear off.

3. Does the location you are headed to have age-appropriate activities?

A good example is the gorilla tracking in Rwanda where persons under the age of 15 are not allowed anywhere near the gorillas. You would want to ask yourself whether the activities on your safari will leave out your kids.

4. Your culture versus your destination's culture

In most Islamic countries, women are expected to wear hijab. Some African countries consider miniskirts indecent. Some countries will serve you cuisines made from meat that people from your country do not eat. In some countries, women will seat in different compartments from men. In short, you need to ask yourself what you will be putting your family through during the safari and whether it is acceptable.

5. Health

Are you and your family immunized against common diseases in your destination? Will you need to carry some insect repellant? Does any member of you family need special medical attention and is it available at your destination? Is there some medication you should carry? Ask yourself these questions and prepare adequately.

There is nothing as enjoyable as a safari when you are well prepared. It can however turn into a nightmare if you leave out some preparation details. They say failing to plan is planning to fail. This edict can never be truer than in the context of preparing for a family safari.
