Thousands of years ago, dinosaurs, the magnificent beasts roamed the earth freely. However, something went very wrong and they began dying out until there were none left. Today, only a few of their skeletal bones are available for scientists to carbon date. Hollywood movie producers saw the untapped imagination of the young ones and in 1998 produced the highly acclaimed movie, the God Zilla. Others came up with the Jurassic Park among others. Today, you can even find video games that feature the extinct animal. But is there learning in all these movies? Might a better alternative be a visit to the Dinosaur Ridge?

Educational fun for kids awaits at Dinosaur Ridge

Thousands of years ago, dinosaurs, the magnificent beasts roamed the earth freely. However, something went very wrong and they began dying out until there were none left. Today, only a few of their skeletal bones are available for scientists to carbon date. Hollywood movie producers saw the untapped imagination of the young ones and in 1998 produced the highly acclaimed movie, the God Zilla. Others came up with the Jurassic Park among others. Today, you can even find video games that feature the extinct animal. But is there learning in all these movies? Might a better alternative be a visit to the Dinosaur Ridge?

Dinosaur Ridge is located in Colorado, due west from Denver. It is part of the larger Morrison Fossil Area National Natural Landmark as designated in 1973 by National Park Services. It is famous for the discovery of dinosaur fossils such as those of the diplodocus, stegosaurus, apatosaurus, and allosaurus.

If you want the kids to have maximum educational fun, then you need to schedule the visit during the Dinosaur Ridge's annual events such as Dino Discovery Days, Scout Days, Dinosaur Detectives, Fireside Chats, or even the Rock out For Ridge. On top of these events, you can have guided tours through the Dinosaur Ridge Trail or the Tricera Tops Trail, attend the indoor exhibits at only $2, have a hearty meal at the snack shacks, do some summer camping or even do some geocaching.

The Dinosaur ridge is the ultimate summer holiday destination. Its rates are competitive compared to the amount of fun activities and learning your kids can have. In a world where the idea of good holiday fun is tucking oneself on a coach with a bottle of beer or a cup of coffee as they watch the latest from Hollywood or playing the latest Star Wars game, a visit to the Dinosaur Ridge should be a welcome departure. It gives you a chance to enjoy the nature as you work out the lazy muscles. Make sure you take the kids to the Dinosaur Ridge before they are too old to enjoy the wild. Believe me; a time is coming when such things will make your kids think you are old-school!
